En Allemagne, l'Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris est dirigé par Peter Sehr, producteur et réalisateur, et par Anne Christine Knoth comme coordinatrice. En France l'Atelier est dirigé par Marc Nicolas, directeur de La fémis, et Christine Ghazarian.

L'Atelier a été fondé en 2001 par Prof. Dr. Peter Sehr et Prof. Jan Schütte. Il a été dirigé par eux jusqu'à 2011.
