In 2003 the Franco-German Film Meetings association (Das deutsch-französische Filmtreffen/Les Rendez-vous franco-allemands du cinéma) was set up under the aegis of French-German Film Academy. The association aims to harmonise production structures for Franco-German coproductions and to promote distribution of French films in Germany and vice-versa. French producer Margaret Menegoz is the association’s President. The Vice-Presidents Peter Sehr and Kirsten Niehuus.

The association organises an annual meeting to encourage German and French producers, distributors and selected experts to discuss their experience and exchange ideas, giving participants an opportunity to explore shared issues and differences in production and distribution in the two countries, and to devise ways of resolving difficulties.

In addition the association offers advice and support to film industry professionals from France and Germany seeking cooperation on film projects involving the two countries. The association website compiles topical information on the German and French film industry.
