It’s the late 19th century. Six orphan girls notice while preparing food in the convent kitchen that the “dumb girl” is pregnant. Exchanging incredulous glances, they keep on working until a ray of sun bathes the pregnant girl in a strange light as she’s plucking chickens. Has there been a miracle in their midst? An argument breaks out between the credulous and the sceptics, and threatens to disrupt the balance of power in the group.
